GP2 and IndyCar Starts This Weekend!

This weekend is Round 2 of the Formula 1 Championship, but also, the GP2 series kicks off at Malaysia. This is going to make it more interesting for the viewers on Sky. With Sky bring us the F1, it also brings the GP2 and the GP3 series (which starts in the European season of the F1 calendar).

You won’t see Michael Schumacher racing in a GP2 car, shown in the picture, but you can except to see a lot of action from all of the rising stars in single seaters. This also a good way to see what the new generations of drivers will be like, and to also see what drivers are trying to copy with the current F1 drivers driving styles on the grid.

Talking about F1 drivers, ex-F1 veteran Rubens Barrichello, will be competing in the Indy Car series this year and also be showing the opening race on the Sky’s F1 channel at 5:30pm, I need to get home from work quick then!

So with that in mind, here are the times for the GP2 sessions on Sky Sports F1 HD and also the opening race for the IndyCar series making it shown on the F1 channel, rather than Sky Sports 4.

Friday – GP2 Practice 3:55 – 4:40 am
Friday – GP2 Qualifying 7:50 – 8:30 am (After F1 Practice 2)
Saturday – GP2 Race 1 2:55 – 4:20 am
Sunday – GP2 Race 2 6:10 – 7:20 am
Sunday – Indy Car Grand Prix of St Petersburg 5:30 – 8:00 pm

Preview – (Round 2) Malaysia Grand Prix

So the next grand prix that the tour is visiting is in Malaysia at Sepang. This 5.543km track will be hosting the 14th year in Formula 1. This is ‘meant’ to be one of the hottest races during this year, but with the current forecast being thunderstorms and still being in the low 30 degrees, it may become more of a water park than a race track! In 2009, they have to red flag the race, as the storm hit the circuit and Jenson Button went on to take 5 points, (due to not completing 75% race distance).  But rain or no rain, Jenson looks good going into the race, as he won at the opening round at Australia, with the world champion, Vettel, finishing 2nd and Hamilton 3rd. Will this be an easy win with McLaren, or will Red Bull, Ferrari or even Mercedes bring something to the mix, we will find out very soon.

Times for F1 Sessions

Friday – Free Practise One 2:00 – 3:30 am
Friday – Free Practise Two 6:00 – 7:30 am
Saturday – Free Practise Three 5:00 – 6:30 am
Saturday – Qualifying 8:00 – 9:00 am
Sunday – Race 9:00 am Start

Wow! Loads to Catch Up for F1!

Hi guys,

Sorry for the long delay on getting a post up, it wasn’t the best time to start the Formula 1 season. Was back at home for the weekend and didn’t really watch any F1 until I got back, so I’m going to try my best and start with the 2nd race on the calendar, which is Malaysia Grand Prix this weekend. I’m going to write up a preview about the race and general details about the circuit.

But again, I’m sorry that I haven’t wrote up here yet and hope that you will carry on following me on my blog.

Thanks

Tom

Sky Sports F1 HD: Got Me Covered!

When I 1st heard that Sky was going to be getting all of the races and BBC getting half to show live, I though to myself, ‘GREAT!!!, Now I can’t get the great coverage that I been watching for 2 years!’

But when I started to read more about the Sky takeover of F1, I started to be come more and more liking the idea of F1 coming to Sky. We are now at the point the Sky Sports F1 HD has launch a couple a days ago and what they have planned for us is really getting me into F1 more than ever. With some great programs have already launch like the weekly ‘The F1 Show’ and also bring a series talking to the ‘Legends of F1′, such as Sir Jackie Stewart and Nigel Mansell.  Another plus that Sky has got over other channels, is that the sub series of GP2 and GP3 are now also going to be live with all 3 sessions; practise, qualifying and the race. This gives me more time to watch the young guns fighting they way up into F1.

I feel that if Sky have got everything right for this season, they will be able to produce some great coverage for this year. Lucky that I got my dad to get the HD package for Sky :) . But with this in mind, I will see be catching up on the BBC coverage, as I do hope that it is still going to be that quality as the last 2 years have produce.

I’m Back Writing for F1!

Hi guys

This has been a very long time I have done a vlog or even a written blog on here and I wish to say I’m sorry. Bit this is going to change!

Lately, I have joined a website called puref1.com, on this website, it brings upcoming talent of F1 writers, one of them including me. So, as I’m going to be writing on there, I have decided that on here I’m going to start writing about my feeling about F1 news. Now it seems that it is perfect timing for me to start, as it is a brand new season and a lot of stories can come out of this year. I want to do this as I’m currently studying Motorsport Engineering at UCLan. And thus hoping to improve my knowlodge in the world of F1 and also on the technical side of it.

I hope that I can grow on here and also be able to improve myself for the better. So look out on this blog for more of me and hopefully gaining more expensive.

Thanks

Tom
